AI for lawyers: the time that comes back to you.

Law books and case files on a dark desk, with a warm beam of light on a passage in an open page

Legal practice has a feature few professions share: your value lies in your judgement, while your time goes on searching. Hours inside files to find the one passage. Dozens of contract pages to spot three clauses. The same question from the client, for the third time this week. On this page you will see where artificial intelligence helps inside a law firm today.

Searching inside your own files

Your firm holds years of cases. Pleadings, judgments, legal opinions, correspondence. The knowledge is there. The question is how fast you reach it when you need it.

An AI system reads your own archive and answers in your own words: “in which cases have we handled a lease termination with this clause?”, “show me what we wrote on a similar issue in 2023”. It returns the relevant passages with a reference to the exact file and page, so you can check it yourself. The judgement stays yours. The search takes seconds.

The summary that is ready before you open the file

A forty-page contract arrives. The system has already read it and is waiting with a structured summary: subject, term, clauses, deadlines, and the points that depart from the template you usually accept. You open the document already knowing where to look.

The same goes for incoming judgments or long pleadings from the other side: a first reading that gives you the map, with the passages linked so you can go straight to the original.

Deadlines and keeping clients informed

Procedural deadlines are tracked automatically, with a reminder early enough to leave room. And the client who asks “where is my case?” gets an answer on the spot, with the latest step and the next appointment, while your work carries on uninterrupted. Anything that needs your own position comes to you, together with the file.

Confidentiality and professional ethics

It is the most serious question in this profession. The answer is built into the structure. The server is your own, inside the European Union, with access that you define. Names are replaced with codes before they reach anywhere, and the key that matches codes to names stays in the firm. And the system sees only the file for the task at hand.

Every text it produces is a draft for review. Legal judgement, signing, filing and strategy stay entirely with the lawyer.

Where a firm starts

We start with the one task that costs you the most time right now. We set it up, you test it in real work for two weeks, then you decide whether the next one is worth it. That way you see results before you commit.

Billing is by the hour when we build step by step alongside you, or by the project when the deliverable is clearly defined. You know which from the start. The system stays yours: you run it on your own, with me on hand for improvements whenever you want them.

For the wider picture, the catalogue of AI automations, the examples by industry and the page on AI agents explain it all in detail. See also what changes in an accounting practice and in a medical practice.
